Uncensored, Unfiltered, Unmissable: Queerstories Is Coming Back To Brisbane

Forget the clichés. Maeve Marsden’s hit storytelling series returns to the Brisbane Powerhouse next week, promising a raw, hilarious, and heartwarming look at modern queer life.

There is an entire universe of experience that exists outside the standard narrative of “coming out” and “getting married”. And that’s precisely what Queerstories sets out to explore.

Returning to the Brisbane Powerhouse on Saturday, November 22nd at 7:30 PM, this celebrated storytelling event cuts through the noise to deliver truly authentic, often unexpected tales from the LGBTQIA+ community. Prepare for brave, brilliant, and genuinely hilarious true stories—an essential and vital celebration of queer culture, shared live on stage.

Curator and host Maeve Marsden has become synonymous with the show’s success, guiding audiences through a roster of voices that are as diverse as the community they represent. For the Brisbane show, host Maeve Marsden showcases her curatorial prowess, assembling an exceptional line-up that blends national headline LGBTQIA+ comedians with compelling local voices.

The following performers are ready to take the stage next week:

  • Steph Tisdell
  • Hope One
  • Bebe Gunn
  • Necho Brocchi
  • Grace Royle

Despite touring across the country, Marsden confesses there’s a truly special, intimate energy here in the river city. She says about the local show:

“The Brisbane Queerstories shows are the most fun (though don’t tell the others!). We always have hundreds of people, but it somehow still feels warm and intimate, and I often find myself in conversation with a random member of the crowd. No one can deliver a supportive, loving heckle like a Brisbane queer!”

If you’re looking for an evening that moves beyond rainbow flags and explores the nuance, humour, and heart of what it means to be queer today, then this show is your ticket.
