From Supper Clubs to Latrobe Terrace: Mesa Collections Founder Trishia Mariano Opens Her First Brisbane Space

Before Mesa Haus had an address, it had a table — set for strangers, in a Sydney apartment, during the loneliest months of lockdown.

Trishia Mariano, a growth analyst by day with no formal design or hospitality background, spent Sydney's lockdowns inviting people she'd never met over for dinner, a series she called Dinner With Strangers. The guest list swelled from eight to twenty over time, with local chefs and creatives pitching in along the way, as she told Concrete Playground earlier this year. That instinct for gathering, shaped by a Filipino upbringing centred on food and hospitality, became Mesa Collections, a tableware and linens brand whose debut collection, Table XV, is a direct tribute to her heritage.

Now, that instinct is getting its first permanent home, and it's arriving in Brisbane, not Sydney. Mesa Haus, Trishia's first bricks-and-mortar space, opens at 33 Latrobe Terrace, Paddington, bringing together a specialty coffee program run in partnership with Code Black Coffee, rotating retail from Mesa Collections and friends, and The Mesa Residents, a co-working residency designed to foster connection among Brisbane creatives.

On the menu, expect syrups made entirely from scratch — ube simmered with condensed milk into a cold foam over cold brew, a blue matcha that shifts colour at the table, and butterfly pea over oat milk — with pastries fresh daily from Sprout Bakery.

Mesa Haus will hold a soft opening on 11 September, ahead of its official opening on 18 September, with the first 20 people through the door on opening day receiving a coffee on the house.
