How Brisbane Spoiled Dad This Father's Day

Somewhere between the socks-and-jocks jokes, Brisbane actually did a nice job looking after dads today. A quick tour of what a few local spots put on for Father's Day this year — some of it still on offer as you read this, some of it already gone for another year.

DoughCraft, Brisbane CBD

Open as normal all day — lunch from 11am to 2pm, dinner from 5pm to 9pm — with a full à la carte menu and a complimentary Negroni for every dad who walks in. No set menu, no gimmicks, just good pasta and a proper drink on the house. If dinner's still unclaimed tonight, there's time yet.

Noosa Chocolate Factory

Handmade, right here in Queensland, and from local ingredients where possible — Noosa Chocolate Factory brought back its chocolate moustaches ($5 each, three flavours, three styles) for the occasion, alongside pre-packaged gift hampers from $44, no pre-order required. Stores at Adelaide Street in Brisbane, Westfield Chermside, Sunshine Plaza and the Noosaville factory are open until 4pm today. Read our full feature.

Eclair at the Bay

A little more advance planning was required for this one: Eclair at the Bay's Father's Day range — a gold-dusted Paris-Brest filled with hazelnut praline cream, and an eight-layer honey cake finished with honeycomb — was pre-order only, with pickup today. If you got in early, well timed; if not, it's one to remember for next year.
