Kristen and Paris Ravest's KP Collective Runways takes over Arcana on 16 October with two showcases, designers from across Australia and a run of pop-up stores.
Two Moorooka locals are turning years of modelling experience into a stage for other people's work. On Friday 16 October, mother and daughter Kristen and Paris Ravest will host KP Collective Runways at Arcana, bringing 17 designers and a large lineup of models together for two runway showcases.
Both have spent several years in the modelling and fashion industry, and the event grew out of what they saw from the model's side of it. "After seeing the industry from a model's perspective, we wanted to create a platform that brings emerging designers and models together and gives them the opportunity to showcase their work on a professional runway," the pair say.
They've built the night with a younger audience in mind. Kristen tells The Urbanite she and Paris saw an opportunity to serve that demographic, and the lineup reflects it: emerging labels, sleepwear built to be worn out, and festival-inspired collections.
The lineup reaches well beyond Brisbane. Designers are coming from across Queensland, including Cairns, as well as South Australia and Western Australia, giving labels from different parts of the country a shot at a Brisbane audience.
The evening is split into two parts. The first showcase covers men's and women's clothing. The second leads into sleepwear and lingerie, which the organisers describe as having a classy and cute edge, and it opens with Cuddle Couture, a label making sleepwear designed to be worn as outerwear. The show closes with silk sleepwear for both men and women. Festival-inspired collections are also part of the mix.

Among the labels the organisers are highlighting are Amy Designs, Embellished, Pitched Mystery, The Vow and Jemmr, alongside Élara, which will be showing fur jackets. Enough Gin is the event's sponsor.

Beyond the runway, the night also includes pop-up stores from beauty, accessory and clothing brands, so guests can shop and discover Australian brands alongside the show.
