French Luxury Appliance Maker De Dietrich Lands on the Gold Coast

With a showroom in Labrador and a direct-to-consumer pricing model, the French manufacturer takes aim at Queensland’s high-end kitchen market.

Can a direct-to-consumer model break the traditional distributor hold on Australia’s luxury kitchen market?

French appliance manufacturer De Dietrich is testing that premise in South East Queensland. Just over a year after establishing its Australian flagship in Sydney, the brand has opened De Dietrich La Galerie in Labrador on the Gold Coast, setting up a dedicated showroom to service local homeowners, interior architects, and property developers.

The Frank Street space displays more than 70 working appliances. Visitors can test the machinery in person, inspecting multizone induction surfaces and combi steam cooking systems before committing to a build.

De Dietrich Australia General Manager Andre Dowling says the space is built around practical demonstration rather than passive display.

"The Gold Coast Centre is a space where you can see the advanced induction cooking with intuitive controls and test the precision cooking technologies for yourself," Dowling says. "We pride ourselves on being able to showcase the premium appliances for the public and we encourage people to experience them for themselves."

The brand’s technical showcase centres on three lines: compact combi steam ovens with dedicated 100 per cent steaming capabilities, sensor ovens that automate cooking temperature and time based on the food, and Amplify multizone induction cooktops.

Commercial pricing remains one of the primary points of friction in Australia’s luxury kitchen sector. European built-in appliances often pass through multiple wholesale layers before reaching the consumer, inflating showroom retail prices. De Dietrich is attempting to bypass that margin structure by operating direct-to-consumer galleries. Induction cooktops across the Labrador range sit between $2,000 and $7,000, while ovens range from $3,000 to $6,000.

Live cooking demonstrations are scheduled to begin at the showroom over the coming months, with program dates announced via the company’s Australian website.

De Dietrich La Galerie is located at 40 Frank Street, Labrador. It opened on Tuesday 29 September. The showroom is open Tuesday to Friday from 9:00 am to 4:30 pm, Saturday from 9:00 am to 1:30 pm, and Monday by appointment, with doors closed on Sunday.
