Heaven on Broadway: The Book of Mormon Sets 2026 Return to Perth

Perth, it’s time to get your Sunday best ready—the Mormons are coming back.

In a massive win for the local arts scene, the global phenomenon The Book of Mormon has officially announced its return to Crown Theatre starting October 2026. Widely regarded as the biggest musical comedy hit to ever grace Australian shores, the production is set to bring its signature blend of blasphemous wit and heart-on-sleeve musicality back to the west coast.

A Star-Studded Return

The 2026 season features a powerhouse cast of musical theatre veterans and rising stars. Leading the mission are Sean Johnston (Hairspray) as the overachieving Elder Price and Nick Cox (Beauty and the Beast) as the lovably awkward Elder Cunningham.

They are joined by:

  • Paris Leveque, making her highly anticipated professional debut as Nabulungi.
  • Tom Struik (Sister Act) as Elder McKinley.
  • Simbarashe Matshe (Filthy Business) as Mafala Hatimbi.
  • Augie Tchantcho, reprising his formidable role as The General.
  • Matthew Hamilton (Tina – The Tina Turner Musical) as Mission President.

The Pedigree of “The Best Musical of This Century”

For the uninitiated (or those who missed the record-breaking previous run), the show follows a mismatched pair of Mormon missionaries sent to a remote village in Uganda. Written by South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone, alongside EGOT winner Robert Lopez (Frozen, Coco), the show is as technically brilliant as it is irreverent.

Since its Broadway debut in 2011, the production has collected nine Tony Awards® (including Best Musical) and a Grammy® for Best Musical Theatre Album. Its previous Australian premiere in Melbourne famously broke the 159-year record for the highest-selling on-sale period at the Princess Theatre, proving that Australian audiences have a Voracious appetite for the trio’s unique brand of satire.

Don’t Miss Out

With a history of breaking box office records in the West End and across the US, tickets for the Perth season are expected to be a hot commodity. Critics have hailed it as “the funniest, filthiest and most gloriously fearless musical ever to hit the Australian stage.”

Note: The production contains explicit language—so perhaps leave the younger kids (and the easily offended) at home.
