As an avid fan of Brisbane's craft and design hub, Artisan, I would like to take a moment to highlight my new favourite maker - Carys Martin.

After seeing some of her works in Artisan's retail space and her current exhibit at the Machinery Street Gallery, I have deep-dived into this talented maker's business and creations.

Based in Cleveland, South East Queensland, the Carys Martin Ceramics studio is a creative hub where Carys and her team produce ceramic goods rooted in nature, folklore and rituals of her homeland.

From functional, everyday pieces to one-off statement pieces, the painstakingly detailed nature of these ceramic goods speaks to the quality and value they offer.

Fortunately, for inner-city dwellers, you can view some of her most impressive pieces at Artisan's Machinery Street window gallery, an exhibit titled '***Whispers From The Woods'. ***The exhibition showcases some sacred creatures in her latest project - Whispers From The Woods Oracle Deck. A thing of almost indescribable beauty, the oracle deck and accompanying book highlight Cary's artistic talents.
