There’s a new room at W Brisbane that doesn’t quite fit any existing category — and that’s precisely the point.
The Listening Lounge, which has just opened inside the hotel on North Quay, transforms what was formerly a retail space into a private vinyl listening bar. It’s designed for small groups who want an evening that feels genuinely different — not a restaurant, not a bar, not a club, but something in between all three, with better sound than any of them.
The room holds up to 18 guests cocktail-style or 12 seated, and comes with a collection of 100 records to choose from, a state-of-the-art Adam Sound speaker system, and a dedicated Experience Host — W Brisbane’s term for a personal concierge who manages the atmosphere, the vinyl rotation and the flow of the night. If you’d rather leave the music to the professionals, W Brisbane’s Music Curator will build a bespoke playlist for your group before you arrive.
Guests are actively encouraged to lock their phones away for the evening. Whether that sounds like a rule or a relief probably tells you whether this experience is for you.
The food menu leans into elevated comfort — Oscietra caviar blinis, truffled wagyu sausage rolls, soul food given a luxury edit. The cocktail program is martini-forward, which makes sense when you consider the room’s most talked-about feature: Brisbane’s first Press for Martini button, which summons a perfectly crafted martini directly to the room without breaking the mood.
W Brisbane describes the Listening Lounge as a response to what guests are increasingly seeking — immersive, atmosphere-driven experiences that prioritise genuine connection over conventional nightlife. In a hospitality landscape full of rooftop bars and tasting menus, it’s a quietly radical idea.
