U2 Announce New Album Carnaval De Luz, Their First In Nine Years

U2 have confirmed their long-awaited return, with Island Records announcing Carnaval De Luz, the band's 16th studio album and first collection of new material in nine years, arriving November 13.

The announcement comes with a new track, "Silencio," out now alongside a music video shot in Mexico City. It follows lead single "Street Of Dreams," released back in July.

Produced by Jacknife Lee, the 12-track record was written during the same sessions as U2's two 2026 EPs, Days Of Ash and Easter Lily, and features collaborators including Brian Eno, Martin Garrix and Daniel Lanois. The closing track, "Torn," is a duet between Bono and Dolly Parton.

The Edge described the record as "a messy, provocative, sacred collection of songs," while Bono called it a "carnival of light" set against "all kinds of creatures" lurking just outside it.

Carnaval De Luz lands in U2's 50th anniversary year — a milestone that traces back to a handwritten note pinned to a Dublin schoolboard by Larry Mullen Jr., "Drummer Seeks Musicians To Form Band," exactly half a century ago this month.
