Nearly three decades after defining late-nineties country-pop, "You're Still The One" gets a neon-soaked, dancefloor overhaul directed by Jonas Åkerlund.
In an era where brand-backed musical crossovers often struggle to justify their own existence, a collaboration between the queen of country crossover and an electronic arena stalwart demands a second look.
Shania Twain and Grammy-winning producer Zedd have unveiled a high-energy, club-ready reinvention of Twain's 1998 signature anthem, "You're Still The One". Created as the centrepiece for King's annual Candy Crush Music Season 2026, the release sees Twain's iconic vocal hook layered over Zedd's meticulous, stadium-scale electronic production.
The pairing might seem improbable on paper, but both artists share a career-long mastery of genre mutation. Twain fundamentally dismantled the purist boundaries of Nashville in the late 1990s by marrying pedal steel to Mutt Lange's arena-rock sensibilities; Zedd has spent over a decade proving that electronic pop hooks can bridge radio formats, famously bridging country-pop sensibilities before on his 2018 smash "The Middle".
"Bringing 'You're Still The One' back with Zedd, and building this special world with Candy Crush for fans to play in, felt like the perfect way to give the song new life," Twain said of the release. "It feels exactly right."
Zedd echoed the sentiment, noting the enduring influence of Twain's catalogue: "She's a legendary artist, and I grew up listening to her music, so being able to collaborate with her on a new version of such an iconic song has been really special."
The auditory reinvention is paired with an equally unabashed visual piece directed by acclaimed Swedish filmmaker Jonas Åkerlund (Madonna, Lady Gaga, The Prodigy). Set within a hyper-stylised Western fever dream dubbed "Candy Country," the video leans heavily into kitsch, cinematic maximalism.
Framed by glowing neon horseshoes and iridescent studio walls, Twain pairs her signature leopard print with rhinestone-encrusted magenta cowgirl fringe, performing alongside Zedd behind an illuminated deck console. Rather than a straightforward promo clip, the production doubles as an interactive gamified experience, embedding hidden visual clues and easter eggs that tie into King's seasonal in-game tournament.

For developer King, the campaign represents a continuing push to turn mobile gaming spaces into viable cultural launchpads. Following an interactive experiment with virtuoso bassist Thundercat reimagining Diana Ross, this latest campaign signals how major gaming ecosystems are seeking to bridge interactive engagement with legacy pop culture.
While the associated competition rewards — which include signed tour memorabilia and Shania's screen-worn pink fringe outfit — are limited to US participants, the track itself and the accompanying in-game event are accessible globally.
Candy Crush's Music Season 2026 tournament and the Jonas Åkerlund-directed visual are live now through 5 October 2026.
