Hugh Foster Brings Two Decades of Nightlife Clout to The Beaumont Brisbane

Hugh Foster doesn't just book DJs. He builds scenes. The man who gave Flume, Peking Duk, Dom Dolla and Rufus Du Sol some of their earliest stage time at a Canberra bar has been appointed Entertainment Director at The Beaumont Brisbane — Fortitude Valley's newest multi-level venue.

It's a significant signing for the Valley. Foster's last decade at The MET (2013–2023) turned that precinct into a mandatory stop on the international touring circuit, with Skrillex, Diplo, Fisher, Carl Cox, Marshmello and Steve Aoki all passing through. A shorter stint at Eclipse Brisbane followed, where he continued programming heavy-hitting acts like Adam Beyer, Vintage Culture and Odd Mob.

Now he's bringing that track record to a brand-new build.

The Beaumont operates across two levels. The Rooftop holds 700 people in an open-air format designed for everything from 360-degree DJ setups to full six-piece live bands. The Main Room, an 800-capacity late-night space, is built for high-energy weekend shows with heavy production rigs. The sound system alone — a d&b audiotechnik installation — represents an investment of around $400,000, paired with a 7m x 2m 4K LED visual wall.

Foster isn't just booking talent into the space. He's launching three house-curated event brands, each targeting a different pocket of electronic music:

ECHO — House music with a focus on Tech House and Bass House.

Wobble — Heavy bass sounds, Dubstep and Drum & Bass.

Panorama — The flagship concept. Artists play a sunset rooftop set, then move downstairs to the Main Room for a second, heavier late-night performance.

The first test of that dual-level format comes on Saturday 29 August, when Melbourne Bounce pioneer Will Sparks headlines Panorama 001. Sparks is a fitting launch act — a multiple Platinum-selling artist with over 500 million Spotify streams, Tomorrowland and Ultra Music Festival credits, and a career that's run parallel to the kind of scene-building Foster has spent two decades doing. His breakout track "Ah Yeah" went double Platinum, and he's remixed everyone from Hardwell to Major Lazer to Bruno Mars.

Foster also runs RevelryMgmt, a boutique artist management outfit whose roster includes Mashd N Kutcher, Jordan Burns, Noy, Jarrod Costello, Justice Patterson, Fitch, Zedena and Cal. That dual perspective — programmer and manager — gives him a rare read on both sides of the booking equation.

For Fortitude Valley, it's another signal that the precinct's nightlife evolution isn't slowing down. For The Beaumont, it's a statement of intent.
