Gracie Abrams Is Done Being Careful — Daughter from Hell Is Her Most Fearless Album Yet

GRAMMY-nominated singer-songwriter Gracie Abrams has released her third studio album, Daughter from Hell, via Interscope Records — and the critical reception has been swift and emphatic.

Written and produced alongside longtime collaborator Aaron Dessner (The National, Taylor Swift), the 16-track album arrives two years after The Secret of Us, the record that made Abrams a genuine global phenomenon. That album debuted at #2 on the Billboard 200, hit #1 in the UK, Australia and the Netherlands, and spawned the inescapable "That's So True" — a track that racked up over 1.5 billion Spotify streams and gave Abrams her first Billboard Hot 100 Top 10.

Daughter from Hell picks up where that success left off, but reaches for something bigger.

A Record Built for Arenas — Without Losing Its Soul

The lead single "Hit the Wall," released in May, set the tone immediately — debuting at #35 on Top 40 Radio and #38 at Hot AC, while clocking 3.9 million Spotify streams in under 24 hours. It has since surpassed 123 million streams. The second single "Look at My Life" was released last month alongside an official video directed by Mitch Ryan. Abrams also performed it on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon during album release week.

Critics have been quick to recognise the leap. Rolling Stone awarded the album 4.5 stars, declaring it "her best album yet — 16 tracks that sparkle with angst, beauty, and all the baggage that comes with adulthood." Associated Press gave it 4 out of 5 stars, noting that "by employing a broader array of instruments and production styles, the resulting 16 tracks live up to the bigger arenas she now fills." NPR was more direct: "it's the best thing she's ever done."

Vogue captured the balance Abrams has struck: "The songs sound like her: earnest, introspective, folk-informed. But the production is more lush, deepened by orchestration, and big enough to fit the rooms she's playing now."

From Taylor Swift's Tour to Her Own Stage

Abrams' trajectory has been one of the more compelling stories in contemporary pop. After opening select dates on Taylor Swift's Eras Tour, she launched her own arena run — The Secret of Us Deluxe Tour — in 2025, her first solo North American arena run. The intimacy she brought to stadium support slots translated seamlessly to headlining, with Rolling Stone noting she "can make even the biggest arenas feel personal."

Album release week began with a profile on CBS Sunday Morning, followed by a special intimate show at New York's Bowery Ballroom — the same venue where she last played in 2022 — in partnership with Capital One.

Beyond Music

Abrams' cultural footprint now extends beyond the stage. She was recently named a house ambassador for Chanel, fronting the brand's Spring-Summer 2025 Pre-Collection campaign and serving as muse for the COCO CRUSH collection. She is also set to make her acting debut in the upcoming A24 film Please.
