Ariana Grande Blooms with Eighth Studio Album petal

Three-time Grammy winner Ariana Grande has released her eighth studio album, petal, via Babydoll Music / Republic Records — and if the lead singles chart performance is anything to go by, its already making history.

Co-written and produced by Grande with longtime collaborator ILYA, with Max Martin joining as co-writer and co-producer on three tracks, petal is a 12-track collection that arrives at the peak of one of the most defining stretches of Grandes career. The albums lead single, "hate that i made you love me," debuted at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 — her tenth career chart-topper and a milestone that makes Grande the first artist in history to debut the lead single from each of her first eight studio albums in the Hot 100s Top 10.

Thats not a vanity stat. Its a reflection of an artist who has managed to evolve across a decade-plus in the spotlight without losing the thread of what makes her music connect.

petal lands on the heels of Grandes return to the live stage for the first time in more than seven years. The Eternal Sunshine Tour — a sold-out global run — has drawn widespread critical acclaim, with final stops in Montreal and Londons O2 Arena wrapping up the tour following triumphant U.S. performances in Los Angeles and Brooklyn.

The album also follows Grandes celebrated turn as Glinda in Jon M. Chus blockbuster adaptations of Wicked and Wicked: For Good, which earned her multiple Golden Globe nominations and made her the first actress to receive multiple Globe nods for portraying the same character across separate films. The films rank among the highest-grossing Broadway musical adaptations of all time.
