On display, the transformative power of sustained attention
Featuring six talented emerging artists from Brisbane and the wider South East Queensland region, the Here & Now exhibition examines how sustained engagement impacts our perception and development. The assembled works offer a contemplative look at nature and existence, presenting viewers with instances of humble insight into the complex web that links humanity and the landscape. Taken together, these artists offer a fresh perspective on the essential connections that define our sense of self and location.

Meet the Artists
The exhibition proudly presents new works from:
- Alex Chadwick: A multidisciplinary artist based in Meeanjin/Brisbane, Chadwick’s research-based practice, which spans drawing, painting, photography, and digital media, is grounded in a deep attentiveness to the local landscape and an exploration of how place is experienced and remembered.
- DvR, a Brisbane artist, creates an exploratory art practice that visually unpacks realms of symbolism, ritual, and rhythmic repetition. Their distinctive visual narrative is built through complex, layered arrangements, utilising diverse mediums such as ink, synthetic polymer, and spray paint.
- Sophie Farquhar: For the Noosa-based abstract artist Sophie Farquhar, colour is the fundamental element upon which her practice is built. Influenced by her bushland and seaside location, she creates gestural, layered paintings with curved forms that explore the precious nature of time and the quest to live well.
- Martina Latimer: A Brisbane-based multidisciplinary artist, Latimer originally worked in textiles for a decade before moving to oil painting and printmaking. Her practice explores the complexities of human connection and the natural world, often combining layered compositions of botanical forms with expressive human interaction.
- Cara Sanders: Self-taught abstract artist Cara Sanders produces signature large-scale, textured artworks, drawing inspiration from the shifting landscapes near her Gold Coast base. Her background is rooted in the Kimberley region. Her signature land-meets-sea style captures the dynamic essence of the environment, deepening her understanding of self and the world.
- Abbie White: This Tasmanian-born, Brisbane-based abstract artist paints intuitively, focusing on how the world makes her feel rather than how she sees it. Using fluid pigments on raw canvas, her minimalist, dreamy works are a search for calm, deeply intertwined with her personal experiences of movement, love, and loss.
Join us in celebrating the creativity and vision of a new generation of artists shaping the cultural landscape of our region.
