Disney Music Group has released Moana: Voices Across The Ocean, a 15-track inspired-by album featuring 25 Pacific artists, out now alongside the live-action Moana film currently in theatres.
The album was executive-produced by Dwayne Johnson — who also stars as Maui in the film and contributes the track "Your Dad," a dedication to his daughters — alongside his wife Lauren Hashian, Tiana Nonosina Liufau, and Kayla Fa'amaligi. Liufau and Fa'amaligi are deeply rooted in the project: Liufau served as Cultural Consultant and Choreographer across the animated Moana films and holds the same role plus Associate Producer on the live-action film. Both also served on the film's Cultural Trust.
The album features 14 original songs and one cover — "We Know The Way," co-written by Lin-Manuel Miranda and Opetaia Foa'i from the original Moana soundtrack. Genres span Island Reggae, R&B, Pop, Island Country, Soul and Dance, with Traditional Polynesian sounds woven throughout.
The Standout Names
Several artists on the tracklist bring significant profiles:
Stan Walker appears on the title cover "We Know The Way" alongside Dinah Jane, and takes the solo "Family Tree." Walker is one of New Zealand's most successful Māori artists, with more than 400 million global streams and multiple platinum releases. He was personally handpicked by Ava DuVernay to write and perform the theme for her film Origin. Dinah Jane, a former Fifth Harmony member, also takes the solo "Strength Of A Woman."
Common Kings deliver "Reflections Of Me." The band were GRAMMY-nominated for Best Reggae Album with 2017's Lost in Paradise and have toured with Justin Timberlake, Bruno Mars and Fifth Harmony.
DJ Noiz, Kennyon Brown and Donell Lewis team up on "Omai" — all three are among the most streamed independent artists in contemporary Pacific music, with combined certifications including triple-platinum (DJ Noiz, "Still The One") and the 50-million-stream collaboration "Island Girl."
Paula Fuga appears on "In The Waves" with Iam Tongi. Fuga wrote the official Little Golden Books adaptation of Moana 2, making her connection to the franchise longstanding. Tongi was the first Pacific Islander to win American Idol (Season 21) and previously recorded for Disney's Lilo & Stitch live-action soundtrack.
Josh Tatofi, paired with Keilana on "Two Of Us," is a GRAMMY nominee who recently became the first artist from Hawai'i and the South Pacific to sign a global deal with EMPIRE. He makes his Grand Ole Opry debut on August 11.

The Cover Artwork
The album cover was designed and hand-carved by Polynesian master carver Sam Mangakahia — a one-of-a-kind paddle drawing motifs from Aotearoa, the Cook Islands, Fiji, Hawaii, Samoa, Tahiti and Tonga, representing genealogy, navigation, protection and wisdom.
Moana: Voices Across The Ocean is out now. Disney's live-action Moana, directed by Thomas Kail and starring Catherine Laga'aia and Dwayne Johnson, is currently in theatres.
